YEARLING
Budget $60,000
Purchasing a yearling as opposed to a race ready 2-year-old offers a number of advantages. It allows us to purchase horses that would otherwise become too expensive at a 2-year-old sale. It also gives us total control over the horse’s development from the start, so we can be 100% sure the horse is receiving the best possible care and training to reach its maximum potential.

Sale Philosophy
This yearling will be purchased at the Fasig Tipton Kentucky October Yearlings Sale. We are exceptionally strict and discriminating when it comes to purchasing a racehorse. Our advanced statistics and moneyball approach gives us a huge edge by identifying undervalued horses in the market. Our mission is to build an elite stable, so we will only purchase horses that we think can win at the stakes level or
better.
Our Sale Team
Haphazard Racing Inc. is proud to work with the best in the business for selecting our horse prospects. We partner with THT Bloodstock, which is the only company in the world that specializes in analyzing the mind of the racehorse as it relates to class, distance, aptitude, performance and breeding. The business is run by Kerry Thomas and Pete Denk. They are experts in herd dynamics and a few of their notable horse selections are Breeders’ Cup winners Runhappy and City of Light. Check out more about our team here.
Trainers
We believe in using data to match the trainer to the horse. We have performed advanced statistical analysis to determine which trainers excel with different types of horses at each track, surface, and distance. Therefore, the trainer we choose will not be decided until after the purchase of the horse.
Pre-Training
This yearling will spend some time at Joe Mulholland's farm in Lexington, KY before going through breaking and pre-training with Kentucky Derby winning trainer Eric Reed at Mercury Equine in Lexington, KY.
*100% of shares must be sold prior to purchasing a horse at a sale. If the partnership is not filled, it will remain and we will purchase from the next appropriate sale.
*Investors must be accredited
